Halloween Treats

What do you think? I can't wait for Halloween. This is something I made for our mystery dinner for young women last week. I got this idea from the Idea Room - love this blog!

Pumpkin Carving

We carved pumpkins together the other night. It was a good time. There's nothing like pumpkin guts! The boys did pretty good - I love that they are getting bigger.

Pumpkin Patch

Today was the first day of fall break. The boys did their jobs this morning and kind of hung out until we left for Farmington. We met Mary, Claire, Nikolas, & Jake and went to the pumpkin patch. We had carts that we could push around to carry our pumpkins. Zac and Hayden had their own carts and they were loaded with huge pumpkins. How much could pumpkins cost? We pulled the carts up to the scales to be weighed --- 164 pounds! Holy Moly! At 25 cents a pound I was quickly figuring out how much it would be in my head -- over $40. I looked at my boys and said, "Boys, I have a $20 budget. Pick your favorite pumpkin." I was very proud of them. They quickly picked the one they wanted and even put the others back in the field AND parked the cart. We ended up spending $15. Nice. That's something I can live with. Mary and I let the kids play in the little maze. They had a blast playing tag with each other.

The Monster Mash!

Hayden and I had the best time yesterday! We made this JibJab video that is hilarious. We seriously laughed and laughed when we watched it the first few times! Enjoy!

Hayden's Fieldtrip

It was a great day on the farm! Hayden, Bailee and I had a wonderful time walking through the corn maze, looking at the animals, hunting pumpkins, going on a high ride and Hayden even went down a huge slide in a burlap sack. Thanks to Havilah and Stephanie who held Bailee so I could help Hayden with some things. It was a little chilly when the breeze came up but such a nice day.

It snowed on Sunday. It was crazy. No potatoes were dug for almost a week. Not good.
This is my dad!
This is only the front half of half of one cellar where potatoes are stored.

I love potato harvest! There is nothing like it on the face of this planet. The smell, the sounds, the feel! LOVE IT! The boys liked it too. They played on the piles of dirt the entire time. Johnny, Brad, Tyler, Lillian, Amy and Emily came to get potatoes with us. We had a lot of fun. It's good for these city boys to know about farming and where our food comes from.

Some may wonder, how did we get so lucky? I wonder every day. Just so you know, Bailee isn't always happy. The picture below was the next picture I took. Unhappy Bailee just doesn't stay very long!

cRaZy!!!

It was rainbow week at school. The kids learned about safety all-around - bikes, drugs, and strangers. This picture was taken on guess what day ---- Crazy hair day!

The joy of children -- I mean BOYS!

To protect the innocent - did I say innocent? I meant child younger than 18 years old - a juvenile. He-who-must-not-be-named was showering on a Saturday night to be ready for church and decided to empty the shampoo bottle into the tub. I found the toilet in my bathroom full of suds, level with the seat. I went upstairs and got Brian and this is what we came back to.
Gretal is really part of our family. We tried to fight it and say she was just the dog, but honestly she's one of us! This is how I found her one day. Asleep and snoring!

Life is never boring at our house! Our boys are such good friends. I love it! Zac and Logan even play with each other at recess. It will be a sad day when Zac goes to junior high.
This is such a fun time in our lives. Bailee has been so fun. The boys adore her. She loves the boys. Logan was happy until pictures weren't on his terms. He'll get used to my terms some day!
